MDMK says survival of UPA Govt a question mark

Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu, Aug 19 : Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK) General Secretary Vaiko today said the survival of the UPA Government at the Centre was a question mark in the context of the differences with the Left on the Indo-US nuclear deal.

Speaking to the press here, Mr Vaiko said ''the government had mortgaged India's sovereignty and self-respect on the 123 agreement with the US.

''Now, the Left, which supports the UPA Government at the Centre from outside, says its (UPA Government's) survial is its hands. We can now only wait and watch.'' Referring to charges being hurled frequently at the DMK Government in Tamil Nadu by its (DMK's) allies, particulary the PMK, Mr Vaiko said never in history had such things happened.

PMK Founder-Leader S Ramadoss' charges on exorbitant fee charged by higher educational institutions and illegal sandmining, though justified, remain unanswered by the government.

''Dr Ramadoss is right in making the charges for which the government has no answer,'' Mr Vaiko said.
